We all want to do our bit.  Safety, sustainability and energy efficiency are important to us all.  Sometimes it’s the little things that can make a big difference, particularly when we act collectively.  Here are some top tips to help at work.

Still using tungsten, halogen or fluorescent bulbs? Changing to LED lighting can save energy and money.

Properly used, dishwashers use less water and energy than washing dishes by hand. However, make sure you only wash full loads and don’t pre-rinse everything in the sink first unless it really needs it.

Using lids on your pans when cooking will save energy and help heat the contents quicker.

Litter belongs in bins! Stuffing litter behind radiators not only prevents them working efficiently but can also be a fire risk.

Building Management Systems (BMS) are great for controlling your building systems efficiently, but only if they have been properly set up! Check your system is properly configured.

Switch off radiators in any rooms you are not using regularly and keep internal doors shut to save energy.

Fitting a new insulating jacket to a bare hot water tank can save over £100 per year. Costing just a few pounds, the investment can pay itself off in a few months.
